January 27, 2026: Ice In Maine

Dubbed "Catch of the Day," ICE activity in Maine is largely focused on the Somali community. ICE agents have shifted to plainclothes and undercover tactics, both in public and online. Steve Sawyer, DKA ICE monitor, says, "There isn’t much to update folks that isn’t already in the news. Maine has become a focus and ICE is here with detentions and abductions taking place nearby in Portland and Biddeford. School monitoring is ramping up, and post detention services such as family assistance with food and rent are in great need of help."
